Sami Yusuf, messenger of love and peace, performed live at Beirut Holidays on August 25 at Beirut Souks.

Sami Yusuf is a British singer-songwriter, composer, producer and accomplished musician. Of Iranian origin, he is British and is now considered Islam’s biggest rock star and the most famous British Muslim in the world.

Sami is endowed with a strong cultural affinity for music. He has a musical background and studied music with several renowned composers, including some from one of the world’s most prestigious music institutions, the Royal Academy of Music in London, so the prediction that music was his destiny, which acquaintances so confidently made, came as no surprise.

He had the passion to make his mark in music, which he did indelibly with the release of his groundbreaking debut album, Al-Muallim, composed, produced and sung by him. The young British Muslim instantly became the talk of the town in lands as far apart and diverse as Egypt and Turkey. The album not only sold well over 3 million copies but also earned him a massive following in the Middle East, North Africa and South-East Asia.

The concert was a great combination of Islamic spiritual themes and popular music elements. He mixed six different languages with a variety of ethnic instruments. It was a great spiritual night.
